Which do you like better? Personally, I think that limited CGI effects are good, but when a movie is 100% CGI in it's effects, well, it's not so good.
What I'm saying is, well: Take Star Trek, for example. Though the CGI Enterprises are cool looking, you can tell that they aren't real. When they actually sit down and make a model of the ship to later be other place infront of a blue/green screen, however, you get more of a sense of realism.
Another example would be in movies that involve animals (swarms of insects and dinosaurs). Granted, a CGI swarm of bees or wasps is FAR better for the actors and actresses health then a real one would be, so that's okay. Yet, when dinosaurs are computer generated, well, once again, you get less of a realistic sense.

I like CGI. This question was hard to answer, I had to open my vault of movie knowledge and figure out what was what. But I do prefer CGI, I don't mind if a movie is full of special effects like that. Personally, I'm not a big movie guy, I'll watch any garbage that's on if it's free, like 2001: A Space Odyssey, horrible horrible movie but I watched it. Anyway, CGI, I can live with.

I like CGI Effects ... but too much is just Too Good To be True ... Movies like the Star Wars Saga have really good and just enough CGI Effects

[glow=blue,2,300]I like CGI, but I'm just as pleased with non computer effects, as long as they're still believable. Look at the movie The Punisher, no CGI whatsoever, but it kicks @$$! [/glow]

I'm also in favor of the use of CGI smoke. When filming a scene like, I don't know, a space walk, computer controlled gas rising from a broken fuel/coolant line is better, because it doesn't float back down to the ground.

[glow=blue,2,300]I believe in CGI as a last resort. it keeps the spending amount lower and gives the cinematographer more feeling of accomplishment.[/glow]
