Deep within the vast reaches of space, a great empire thrives. An empire that, over time, has developed a network of portals that fold and bend space, time, and energy, and have allowed it to traverse great distances in mere minutes or hours. Ruled by leaders consumed by a lust for power that has driven them to forsake their people's needs and abandon many of them on the outskirts of their territories.
Outpost J67-B. A space station placed by the leaders to maintain control over the piracy and high crime rate known to infest their boundaries. Why would they want to place an outpost here to protect the people that they have lost interest in? Because J67-B is in sector Epsilon, along the empire's border with one of their greatest rivals, the Can'Dinovians.
The empire knows that within a short span of time, the Can'Dinovians will launch an attack. They have sent a large force of soldiers to Epsilon to finish the building of J67-B, and mount a defensive position against the Can'Dinovians, in an attempt to detour them, for, while the great empire is great in power, it is slowly crumbling from the inside out.
But, there is another reason. Planet X57-Epsilon, a rogue planet that was recently discovered in the Nebula of the star that went supernova and destroyed the home system of the empire's founders, billions of years before. It is a small planet in the sector that is rich in Gold, Platinum, and Vulcantium, a rare metal of unbelievable strength. Miners and those seeking for adventure have rushed to X57-Epsilon, and a lack of law along with frequent Can'Diovian pirate attacks are robbing the leaders of their riches. Law and Order must be established.
Religious leaders have also become bent on controlling X57-Epsilon, believing it to be "Terra Deus", the fabled home world of "The Creator" and "The Place of Riches" where the founding race of the empire came from.
The mission: Mount a defensive against the Can'Dinovians, protect the planet X57-Epsilon, bring law to X57-Epsilon, and protect those on a pilgrimage to X57-Epsilon.

X57-Epsilon, a desolate, cold planet with little vegetation. It holds a strong atmosphere and little life exists. Endless mountains cover the landscape and rich, untapped deposits of gold and platinum stretch across the windy mountainous regions. The precious Vulcantium (Vu) can only be found deep within the planet.
Vulcantium itself, as a raw metal, is quite durable but extremely heavy. When bonded with titanium atoms and other complex mixtures and procedures, it will remain just as strong but would now be light enough to work with. Because there is so little Vulcantium around, it can only be used for for a few ships for outer plating and certain tools would be crafted out of it.
Most creatures on the planet live underground, where it is warm. The most dangerous of these creatures are the Trogs, which are bulky, black, monsters with a dark shell on its back. Its red eyes see flawlessly in the pitch black of the ground and its claws could rend through a photon tank as if it were nothing. They rarely leave their underground domains but would emerge if provoked.
Encampments have been made all on the planet. Religious cults have setup near rocks that look like ruins to an ancient city and miners have a fortified, structured base, controlled by the Empire.
Every miner is inspected when they enter and exit the mines. The guards are under strict orders to capture anyone looking suspcious.

Thanks for the briefing, Science Officer. *Turns toward the large group of troops in the mess.* Anyway, we'll be arriveing at the space station within a few minutes. Our orders are to aid in the final stages of construction and to fortify that position. From then on, we're the law.
Now, I know that most of you didn't join the Imperial Army to act as cops. But, look at it this way. You'll skill get to kill a lot of Can'Dinovian pirate scum.

Can'Dinovian vessels are being picked up on our senors, they are ahead of us and are docking on to the planet. If this ship can move any faster, I suggest you make it happen!

DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB! I'll send fighter squad delta to deal with them!
We'll proceed with our docking to J67-B. Once there, we'll be briefed on the situation from the head of construction.
As I'm to understand it, they've lost several workers to a swarming reptilian vermin from the planet, and the guards keep dieing in gang fights in that city. Also, do to, uh, the 'friendly' nature of some of the women who traveled out here, there's a problem with STDs.

The ship docks down on J67-B and the crew begin to exit the ship. The soldiers are ordered to patrol certain sectors as the commander tries to organize his strategy.

First, we'll need to finish getting the internal defenses online. Second, I want to send a number of guards down to the planet to- *an internal explosion rocks the station.*

Some shrapnel from the charge injured my leg, I need assistance!
An explosive mining charge went off prematurely, causing no causalities but quite a few injuries. The explosion has ripped apart supports for the West defense tower and damaging the surrounding area. This will only prolong the construction.

It's the damned Pugnas gang again! They've been causing all kinds of trouble from the moment we started construction. I'll bet you that they're behind that explosion!

A few whacked out anti-imperial extremists came here and started a gang. The call themselves 'freedom fighters' or 'true patriots', or some other bull name. Either way, they don't like us building up here cause they're kinda fond of giving back Epsilon to the Cans, so they terrorize us ever chance they get. They and the Can pirates work hand-in-hand with each other.

Great, add one more thing to the to-do list. Their guerrilla warfare tactics will not make our lives any easier. Do you suspect we will have enough troops to handle the situation?

I do. I'll send a small task force down to the planet to investigate.

The gangs are at it again. They are infiltrating buildings and trying to sabotage them. Their main objective seems to be trying to take down the power supply generators.

If they've got any sense at all, they'll get out of those mining buildings before they get exterminated. I've recieved a report that the task force has taken out an infiltrating group in one of the southern encampments. Their attacks are more frequent in this area *points to area on map.*
Computer, display the last fifteen attacks made by the Pugs in this area. *Red dots appear.* See the pattern?
